Only seven of these beautiful 42’ boats were ever built by Chris~Craft and only in 1940. None are known to survive today. Powered by twin engines the 1940 Catalog advertises that they can obtain “speeds up to 25MPH”.
Even fewer models have been built. This model is one of three known to have ever been built. Every effort was taken to insure accuracy and detail. The model measures 42” length by 11 ½” wide and is at a scale of 1’=1”, is mounted on a mahogany stained base is supported by mahogany holders with two raised brass name plates. All parts were fabricated by the builder.
The models were built from original Chris~Craft plans obtained from the Chris~Craft museum, the 1940 catalog, and photos furnished by Chris Smith (Grandson of the founder of Chris~Craft). The colors are original Chris~Craft colors and stain. The interior salon is completed as the actual boat was, thanks to photographs in the catalog. Blue and white checker curtains, blue carpet, blue and white checker tablecloth covers a mahogany table, blue sofa, brass ships bell, brass fire extinguisher, captain’s chairs and console with controls and instruments.
The model is basically a “one of a kind” as the builder NEVER builds the same models again.
